An undercover investigation by China Central Television recently showed that salaries p
上海419品茶微信aid to foreign English-language teachers are much higher than those for Chinese nationals doing the same job.
For example, at one training institution in Beijing, a Chinese teacher of English can earn 300 yu
an an hour, while foreign teachers can earn as much as 1,800 yuan per hour simply by talking to the students.上海419
When the undercover reporter asked to see the qualifications and working visas of foreig
n teachers at one training institute, his request was refused because it “violates the teachers’ privacy”. A different i
nstitute refused to show the reporter the relevant documents because it was a “business secret”.上海419
At another online English training institution, the reporter discovered that two of the English-language te
achers were Portuguese nationals, even though the上海419品茶微信
institution repeatedly assured him that all of its teachers were native speakers.
Chu Zhaohui, a senior researcher at the National Institute of Education
Sciences, said the market for foreign teachers is like a gold rush, with abundant o上海419
pportunities, few regulations and big profits for those who want to make a quick buck.
“For foreigners, applying for jobs in English-language teaching at training establis上海419品茶微信
hments is straightforward－often, simply submitting a resume is enough, and usually they are not r
上海419equired to undergo background checks, provide references or proof of qualifications,” Chu said.
He added that parents and students are more forgiving of fo
reign teachers’ lack of teaching credentials, especially if they are white-skinned nati上海419品茶微信
ve speakers, because they assume that all foreigners have the ability to teach their mother tongue.
The move left Trona temporarily cut off. California Department of Transportation spokeswoman Chr

Ron Mikulaco, 51, and his nephew, 23-year-old Brad Fernandez, stood on 178 on Saturday looking at the cracks.
上海419品茶微信The pair drove from Huntington Beach, some 170 miles (274 k
ilometers) southwest of Ridgecrest. Mikulaco, an amateur geologist, wanted to show his nep
hew “the power of Mother Nature,” and they had the epicenter’s latitude and longitude coordinates ready.上海419
“We put that in the GPS and we’ll get as close as we can,” Fernandez said.
上海419品茶微信In Ridgecrest, local fire and police officials said they were initially swamped by calls for medical and ambulance servi
ce. But police Chief Jed McLaughlin said there was “nothing but minor injuries such as cuts and bruises, by the grace of God.”
Two building fires — one involving a mobile home — were quickly doused, McLaughlin said, and natural gas lines where leaks were reported were shut off.
In Trona, a town of about 2,000 people considered the gateway to Death Valley, fire officials said up to 50 structures were damaged.上海419品茶微信
San Bernardino County Supervisor Robert Lovingood said FEMA delivered a tractor-trailer full of bottle
d water because of damage to water lines. Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency for the county.

d the only food store in town is a Family Dollar store that was shuttered Saturday.
“The only way to get food is to drive to Ridgecrest, and with only t上海419

“I would say 70% of my inventory is on the floor, broken,” he said. “Ev

But he has stopped cleaning up, believing another earthquake is on the way.
Lucy Jones, a seismologist at the California Institute of Technol
ogy and a former science adviser at the US Geological Survey, said the new quake pro
bably ruptured along about 25 miles (40 kilometers) of fault line and was part of a continuing sequence.
The seismic activity is unlikely to affect fault lines outside of the area, Jones said, noting that the gigantic San Andreas Fault is far away.
Egill Hauksson, another Caltech seismologist, said later in the day that scientists believe the continuing seque
nce could produce more than 30,000 quakes of magnitude 1 or greater over six months.
He said the probability of a magnitude 7 over the next week is about 3%, but one or two magnitude 6 quakes are expected.
